News cycles can be relentless. So, when sports preempted several newscasts today, we decided to celebrate at KARE 11 with a special Family Day. We enjoyed food, games, activities, and lots of little furry animals. And it was wonderful to see so many team members bring in their kiddos for the afternoon. Having fun at the station on a beautiful day was a great way to end the week! #KARE11

KARE 11 had the honor of hosting a group of Edward R Murrow International Fellows.These talented broadcast professionals came from Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, Rwanda and beyond. They were fascinated to learn about U.S. press freedoms, hear how media reflects American society, and better understand the influence of social media.Admittedly, we learned as much from them as they hopefully learned from us!

You often hear that KARE 11 stands for community. Tonight, we strived to deliver on that expectation with a Community Mixer. Non-profits, Twin Cities leaders, and station talent came together for a night of conversation and a lot of learning. Together, we can accomplish great things.

It's been a difficult time in the greater Twin Cities. 3 first responders were killed in the line of duty Sunday while responding to a domestic call in Burnsville. 7 children were in the home when a heavily armed man opened fire.The KARE 11 news team has been working tirelessly to cover all angles of this senseless tragedy. It’s been fun experiencing things over the past 3 months that are uniquely Minnesota. Curling definitely qualifies. What a blast today at the Chaska Curling Center with the KARE 11 sales team. These people are as competitive on the ice as they are off it!

What a sight - a parade of lights filling the night outside the KARE 11 studios. More than 30 law enforcement agencies across Minnesota came together to help fulfill our Toys for Tots mission. Thanks to their generosity thousands of children will be able to celebrate the holidays. Special thanks to the Golden Valley Police Department for presenting KARE 11 with their Community Service Award. We are grateful and honored!
