Fantasy Baseball Value Picks Today: Top DraftKings MLB DFS Bargain Plays for June 18 (2024)

On Tuesday night, Major League Baseball has a huge 10-game slate ready to roll at 7:05 p.m. ET, giving everyone plenty of options to choose from when assembling their fantasy baseball squad for contests on DraftKings. The action begins in New York and Toronto with two games from the AL East, which are two of the three divisional matchups on the schedule. The other one deserves special attention since it’s happening at Coors Field, where the Dodgers take on the Rockies for the second night in a row.

With 20 teams in play, there are multiple angles to consider as you break down this Tuesday’s contests. Some stars stand out as pay-up plays to build around, but if you spend up on big-salary options, you’ll also need to save salary in other spots. In this post, we’ll take a look at three cheap plays that come with good upside. While these players bring higher risk than some other options, they also have the kind of ceiling that makes them strong plays to consider.

SP Tobias Myers, Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Angels, $6,500

There are a few exciting young arms that have attractive salaries on Tuesday including Myers, Jonathan Cannon ($6,200) of the White Sox and Spencer Schwellenbach ($7,000) of the Braves. Myers is my top option of the group, though, because he has a very favorable matchup against the Angels and has been excellent in his last two starts. The 25-year-old prospect has gone 3-2 with a 3.76 ERA and 5.04 FIP in his nine games in the MLB this season, totaling 36 strikeouts in 40 23 innings. He had 24 strikeouts and a 1.45 ERA in his 18 23 innings in Triple-A, so the potential for more punchouts is there as he settles into his groove. Myers is coming off back-to-back wins over the Tigers and Blue Jays, earning 29.6 and 21.1 DKFP, respectively. He allowed just one run on four hits in 14 innings across those two outings while striking out nine and walking four. The Brewers lost to the Angels on Monday in the series opener, but the Angels still rank in the bottom-eight in the MLB in runs scored and team batting average over the last 30 days. The Angels don’t usually strike out a lot, but the way Myers has been dealing, he should be set up for another strong outing even if he doesn’t bring the highest strikeout potential. Cannon has more punchout potential, but is a much more volatile play since he’s pitching for the struggling White Sox and facing the Astros, who have a much more power-packed lineup.

OF Jarred Kelenic, Atlanta Braves vs. Detroit Tigers, $3,200

I highlighted Kelenic on Monday in my bargains, but I’m back for more on Tuesday since he’s still underpriced and excelling in his new role atop the Braves’ batting order. The 24-year-old lefty was acquired by the Braves from Seattle this past offseason, and he has stepped into the leadoff spot after significant injuries to Ronald Acuna (knee) and Michael Harris (hamstring). He has led off in each of the three games since Harris’s injury and gone 5-for-14 (.357) with two home runs and a stolen base to average 14.7 DKFP. He has six homers on the season, all against right-handed pitching, and he has hit .273 with a .339 wOBA in his split against righties. He will take on another right-handed starter on Tuesday night against the Tigers and Casey Mize ($6,000), and he remains a very strong affordable play at this salary. His leadoff spot should give him added opportunities to score runs while he still brings excellent power and speed potential.

1B Tyler Soderstrom, Oakland Athletics vs. Kansas City Royals, $2,500

The Athletics have given their everyday 1B job to Soderstrom, and the 22-year-old is proving up to the challenge and becoming a regular producer in the middle of their lineup. The lefty was ranked as the team’s top prospect coming into the season by MLB Pipeline and the No. 56 prospect in all of baseball. Since being called up, he is hitting .250 in his 31 games with five homers and a .359 wOBA. He went 3-for-4 with a home run on Sunday and has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games while going 13-for-38 (.342) with four home runs and a .461 wOBA. He isn’t in an ideal matchup against Alec Marsh ($7,600), who has been good this season for the Royals, but the young slugger is showing enough potential at the plate to be a nice pay-down option at 1B.
