Everything you need, away from the downtown tourist area
In exchange for my weekly timeshare resort in Orlando, we selected the Hyatt Beach House for 6 days. The trip down from Newark was without incident, flying into Tampa and then Key West. Returning, though, Silver Airlines is not the most reliable airline, so we recommend to carefully consider how you travel.
A car is essential if you're staying for an extended period of time.
Each day, the temperature soared to the 90s, but that didn't deter us from seeing what we wanted. Fortunately, the first two days, everything was quiet at the resort because it was the Memorial Day weekend and it was nice to return to the air conditioning after seeing the sites. Renovations were underway in a few of the units and this involved sawing, hammering and construction noise. We timed our trips accordingly. Side activities included visits to the Butterfly conservatory, a trip to the Keys (as far as Marathon), shopping, and water sports. So, each day we'd head out after breakfast and see the area and then return in the late afternoon for a swim, dinner and relaxation.
The hotel room was everything we wanted: two large bedrooms, showers, kitchen, screen-in porch, and what really made me happy--free fast-speed internet. The reception staff were always friendly. Rick gave us great ideas to visit and suggestions for dinner. Each morning, I'd go down for a cup of free coffee and bring up the newspaper to read in my porch.
Parking was free and it was only about 2 miles to the airport (no noise from air traffic). The limitation is that there are no walkable activities, stores or attractions, hence the car.
We did not eat or drink from the Tiki bar. We dipped our toes in the sea water, but there was no real beach. The pool is the center of the resort and it met my needs (although I think it was a bit dirty, but that could have just been from natural debris and a lot of people usage). The water temperature was perfect for lounging.
Check in and check out were ideal. In summary, I would highly recommend this resort as a part of a long term stay and as an exchange for a timeshare.

Dear James S, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience. We're happy to hear what a nice time you had! The summers down here can be dreadfully hot, I'm glad you were still able to enjoy our little island and all that it has to offer. We hope to see you again, next time you're down this way! Warm regards, Julie

Very Nice
Easy check in, friendly people. Nice room with a nice view. Pool area is very nice, lots of chairs with cabanas. Shuttle to downtown is an unexpected addition. $5 charge each way but considering the parking situation down there it is well worth the charge. Front desk responsive to needs. Room was clean, well appointed with a nice screened in patio. I would definitely recommend it.

Good Afternoon Rutil71, Thank you for the 5 star review that you have shared on TripAdvisor. The staff here at the Hyatt Beach House are incredible and the property would not be the same without each one of them. I will be sure to share your feedback with them. I will also be reviewing your other suggestions as we definitely have opportunities in the areas that you have mentioned. Regards, Jon Dindo Resort Manager

Great Stay! Lovely!
This was truly a stunning condo. We expected it to be nice but it was really very pretty. The condo was very clean and had room service each day to give you fresh towels and make the beds which we did not expect. The porch was great with a view of the pool. The pool was plenty big since no one was hardly ever in it. You obviously cound not dive but it was deep enough to swim. The hot tub was clean and comfy. The beds were comfortable and the condo in general was quiet. It could use more parking but that was not a huge problem. Its away from town so it stayed quiet at night but we drove into town each day and got there within 10-15 minutes. (with some traffic). I loved it!

very nice property
We stayed at the Hyatt Beach Resort as a timeshare exchange. This is a very nice hotel with lovely grounds, great pool, hot tub. The rooms are large, screened porch is great, rooms very clean, and front desk, especially Jackson, friendly and informative. The concierge was great too. Some rooms have a view of the ocean. There is comfy but older furniture, well lit living/dining area, decent kitchen with new appliances, nice dining area a well as dining on porch, huge master bathroom. But, the rooms are older style with not-so-gently used furniture (needs to be replaced), terrible storage issues, no desk for computer/ipad, scattered places to charge phones, camera, etc, huge bath tub we used for storage, master toilet room that is a dungeon with a sliding door, horrible-quality paper products. Now, we had a great stay and found solutions to the aforementioned (buying kleenex and paper towels.). We had a nice view of the canal via a back bedroom window, which I looked out upon all the time. There was a lovely porch swing near our room facing the canal. We found the location fine, located just as you enter Key West. There are some updates planned I understand. It is near the hospital on Stock Key and there are sirens running by the property multiple times a day. Free parking. The Tiki hut was delicious but pricey. The dock is a great place to sit. The beach is just a spit of sand between mangroves, but enough for any child to play, and adults to sit in chair with toes in the water. I was there every day! I would not recommend swimming past the mangroves for a child because of the current. You can snorkel along the mangroves for a little limited underwater look but only when the currents are right - check before going in. We walked along the ocean sidewalk around the bend every day. We had a car so getting to KW was not an issue. There are parking garages, lots, and street spots.

Room Tip: Some condos have no view of ocean or canal, and/or are set along walkways - not so great.
