She also leaves to mourn her loss her aged mother, Mrs. Maria Elliott, of Ralston, six sisters, Mrs. Lee Herman of Pawhuska, Mrs. Lula Hines of Hutchinson, Mrs. Mary McEndree of Kirksville, Mrs.

Anna Kennedy and Mrs. Emma Gann of Long Beach, Mrs. Maud Trimm of Fairfax, and two brothers, Kellar Elliott and Andrew Elliott of Los Angeles, Calif. Her father, a brother and a sister preceded her in death. She was a member of the Shelbina Eastern Star in which order she was a faithful worker.

During her lifetime she was a devoted citizen to the truth she believed and we feel she is in the hands of a just God who doeth all things well. Our loving mother now at rest, We feel assured on Jesus breast, We would not call her back again To grieve and mourn and suffer pain. Her loss we all so deeply feel, And none the vacant place can fill; But, for faith and strength from God To walk within the path she trod. PLEVNA. Mr.

Phone 68. Edina. Mo. Enemies of Flowers. Question: What are some of the insects from which flowers should be guarded? Answer: At this season the year keep a close watch on roses for the slug which causes the leaves to bleach and die, the leaf rollwhich bores into the blossom buds and ties the leaves, the rose mildew which appears as a powder injures foliage and blossoms, and red spiders which injure the leaves in dry seasons.

Either or all of these pests can be controlled quite well by beginning when buds first open, and dusting lightly at frequent intervals, or following each rain with a mixture consisting of 1 part arsenate of lead and 5 parts ordinary sulphur. It will help, however, to go over the bushes frequently and crush the leaf rollers. Where they are injuring peony buds! destroy them by hand. In case of the various flowering shrubs, remember that prompt dust or spray applications of arsenate of lead will protect them from the different caterpillars or beetles feeding on the foliage and blossoms. The leaf roller is the most difficult one to control.

Where aphids or common plant lice attack shrubs or other flowers, or garden crops, spray promptly, using a tablespoonful of black leaf 40 in gallon of soapsuds. For the blister beetle on clematis, hand destruction is the surest remedy. If close watch is kept on flowers and shrubs and one of these controls is applied promptly, there will be no serious difficulty in protecting them from insect pests and diseases. In a hard fought battle for Nemo League honors Sunday, the Edina Aces smacked the Hannibal Boosters out of first place and set themselves up as league leaders by a half game margin. The Boosters took the littlel end of a 9-6 score for their first defeat of the season. The Aces went into the eighth inning trailing 5 to 2, but in this frame Edina bunched 5 of their 11 hits, and with three walks and an error thrown in tallied up 7 runs before the side was out. Patchen led off the eighth with a single. Kurtz and Buban walked, filling the bases.

Patchen scored on Lucas' hard single and Kurtz came in on Gibbons' infield out. McCampbell then walked to refill the bases, after which Ralls cleaned the paths with a long homer to left center. After Cupp flied out to left, B. Boltz doubled and scored on Patchen's double, he dying on base when Kurtz flied deep to center to end the inning. Hannibal's only bid for a comeback in the ninth was Treaster's triple to left, and after he scored while Cupp was throwing out Pascal no one else reached first base.

Brooks, Hannibal starting pitcher, allowed 9 hits, 8 runs, struck out 11 and walked 7 in 81-3, innings, and Palmer, who succeeded him in the eighth, allowed a run and 2 hits in 2-3 of an Lucas, twirler, gave up 14 hits, 6 runs, struck out 3 and walked none. He was the winning pitcher. Mann and Hartsock were the umpires. The Aces go to Elmer next Sunday, as they have an open date, due to drawing a bye in the league schedule.
